Celebrating our Trustees:
Trustees' week 2025
Posted Monday 3rd November 2025
This week is Trustees’ Week – a time to celebrate the incredible people who give their time, skills and energy to help charities like St Albans Mencap thrive.
We’re proud to have a dedicated board of volunteer trustees who guide our work, make key decisions, and ensure that everything we do continues to support local people with learning disabilities and their families.
Our trustees come from all walks of life – parents, professionals, and passionate community members – united by a shared belief in inclusion, respect, and opportunity for everyone. Together, they bring a wealth of experience to help St Albans Mencap grow stronger and deliver vital programmes such as
SNAP and Trinity Community Project.

A big thank you
We’d like to say a huge thank you to each of our trustees for the time and care they put into every meeting, discussion, and decision. Their support and strategic guidance help make everything we do possible – from community events and services to fundraising and advocacy.
Get to know the Trustees
Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing a series of ‘Meet the Trustees’ posts on our social media channels. Each one will introduce you to the people behind the scenes who help shape St Albans Mencap’s future – their backgrounds, what inspires them, and why being a trustee matters to them.
Interested in getting involved?

If you’ve ever thought about becoming a trustee or volunteering your skills to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you. Being a trustee is a rewarding way to give back and help build a more inclusive community for people with learning disabilities.
Meet David Keen – Chair of Trustees at St Albans Mencap
As part of Trustees’ Week, we’re celebrating the people who guide and support our charity behind the scenes.
David first became involved through his family's connection to our SNAP (Special Needs Activities and Play) programme and is now proud to lead our fantastic board of trustees.
With his background as a chartered accountant, David brings a calm, practical approach to decision-making and helps ensure the charity’s resources are used wisely to make the biggest possible difference.
“I feel incredibly proud to be part of an organisation that makes such a real and lasting difference. St Albans Mencap is about friendship, belonging, and giving every person the chance to shine – and it’s a privilege to help support that.”
David Keen
Thank you, David, for your leadership and dedication to our community.
