St Albans Mencap’s SNAP Service Praised in County Council Report

We’re really proud to share that Hertfordshire County Council recently visited our SNAP playscheme — and their report was full of wonderful feedback!

From the moment they arrived, the visitor said the atmosphere felt “inclusive, inviting and child-centred.” They told us it was clear that “children and young people are at the heart of everything the team does.”

Our staff were praised for being so welcoming and enthusiastic, and the report described the environment as radiating “empowerment, joy and genuine care.” Most importantly, the children were encouraged to express themselves freely and confidently — something we always strive for at SNAP.

The report also celebrated how we listen to the voice of the child and adapt activities based on their likes and dislikes. This child-led approach is at the centre of everything we do, and it’s fantastic to see it recognised.
