The services that are available here at St Albans Mencap include: 

  • Access to a fixed location with changing facilities and hoists, Sensory room, IT suite, art rooms and kitchen where refreshments are available                                                                                                          

  • Group or 1:1 sessions running 7 days a week from one hour to 8 hours per client per day on a regular or irregular basis

  • Programmes discussed and chosen by the participant such as life skills, accessing the community, shopping, walking, sports events,   art, third party courses, IT skills, buy cook and eat, crafts, music, etc.

  • Support for individuals from a mild learning disability, Severe Learning disabilities, autistic spectrum, and mental health sufferers or


         or with a dual diagnosis and those with physical difficulties.

  • Staff ratio would normally be 1:4 for group sessions or 1:1 or 2:1 but on occasion to be 3:1 for Life Enhancing clients

  • Transport from Hertfordshire where individuals are often being picked up and dropped off at their homes.

  • Staff with up to date CRB checks who are all fully trained in handling techniques as well as Epilepsy, First Aid, Food Hygiene, Safe Guarding, Risk Assessment, Health and Safety etc.
