  Play Leaders

 

The role of a play leader would be suitable for an individual who is confident in leading a team, managing staff, volunteers and children/young people with varying learning disabilities. They are required to plan and implement activity programmes and deal with issues connected with the running of a playscheme, supported by a team. A level 3 qualification (or above) in child care and prior experience with children with special needs is desirable, although not essential, for applicants of this role.

  Play Workers

 

Play Workers work as part of a team supervising an allocation of children/young people with varying learning disabilities whilst assisting in the support of volunteers. They are reponsible for supporting children to play and engage in activites and resources as well as monitoring and supporting their personal care, eating, drinking, mobility and managing behaviour effectively. Play Workers are required to support the play leader/deputy in implementing activity programmes taking into consideration the age and abilities of the young people in their care.  All workers have the joint responsibility of maintaining the cleanliness of the equipment/premises throughout the duration of each playscheme day.
