St Albans Mencap Building
The renovation of a unit on the Verulam Road Industrial Estate is almost complete creating a very flexible, safe and secure venue not just for St Albans Mencap, but will also be available for other organisations to utilise. The building will contain specific activity spaces; sensory, computer, art and conference rooms and a training kitchen.
Training Kitchen
This gives an opportunity for individuals that are 16+ with mild to moderate learning disabilities. It will be an educational course providing both theoretical and practical experience in both general employment and specific hotelier skills for a period of 1 - 3 years, dependant upon the individual. Resulting in a n employers recognised qualification and associated practical skills. The course will be separated into three sections:
1. Formal Qualifications
2. Work Experience
3. Transition from education to the world of employment
Transport Program
A fleet of minibuses and drivers will be available by appointment and a small fee to members of St Albans Mencap and other organisations in the surrounding area.
