| The Area | Winterton-on-Sea
is the perfect location for those wishing to get away from it all. Just
eight miles north of bustling Great Yarmouth with all its shows and
attractions, pale sandy beaches are Winterton’s greatest
asset, served by a friendly beach café and backed by miles
of dunes. From Winterton down to Great Yarmouth, the whole stretch of beach , is patrolled by the Young Citizens Guild who help ensure its safety. They also operate a tagging scheme for young holidaymakers who can be fitted with a coded wristband that can help the police and the YCG to trace a child’s address should they go walkabout. To the north of the village is an important conservation area |

| Local Interest | Russell House is only half a mile from the beach
and is within easy reach of the village shops and local pub, just a
quarter of a mile away. In Winterton, the village church, which claims to be the highest in Norfolk, is a superb example of 12th century building by monks of St Benet’s Abbey. The three hundred year old pub “The Fisherman’s Return” is a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike. There is also a popular Fish & Chip shop in the centre of the village.
